Crackpot Cottage glamping in swaledale

Welcome to Crackpot Cottage

Adjacent to the Coast To Coast, The Pennine Way, The Swale Trail and The Herriot Way

Crackpot Cottage is the ideal place to experience the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.

There is plenty to do, walk and cycle in Swaledale but if you fancy going a little further afield we are only 30/40 minutes away from very renowned  sites in Wensleydale such as Castle Bolton, Penhill, Aysgarth Falls, Wensleydale Creamery, Hawes, Hardraw Force and Jervaulx Abbey.

We are a family-run smallholding. We grow our own fruit and vegetables and our hens provide us with fresh eggs daily.

We have two glamping venues in our grounds.

The food we serve and sell is mostly homemade. From bread to jam, ketchup, red onion chutney, gin, cakes and much more...

Situated in a small hamlet between Reeth and Gunnerside, we are surrounded by the most stunning Swaledale walks, including the renowned Muker - Keld circular and Gunnerside Gill. A gentle evening stroll from Crackpot Cottage will also take you to the outstanding Crackpot Falls or Summer Lodg
e cave and tarn
.

If you don't fancy going out for dinner we provide a selection of meals and appetisers.

Check our menu at: Buon Appetito

For walkers and cyclists and all of our guests if requested we are able to provide extras services such as clothes drying, packed lunches, safe indoor bike storage, e-bikes battery charging and pick up/drop off.

Reviews
Friendly, welcoming hosts. Beautiful surroundings. The private garden area was wonderful to enjoy a peaceful evening in front of the chiminea. An enjoyable stay. Homemade pizzas available to order made by the hosts were a delicious added bonus Thankyou
Absolutely amazing been twice and can't wait to go back highly recommend to everyone
Don't even know where to begin!! The views were spectacular, which was hugely amplified by the firepit outside and fireplace inside the cabin. The homemade food like the tomato sauce, free-range eggs from the coop and cheese were made with passion. And that's not even to begin with how lovely and attentive the couple who hosted are. A truly magical place to stay. We will definitely coming back. Couldn't recommend enough. Please keep doing the magical job you are clearly doing. We love how special you made us feel . You've made memories for us that we will hold dear forever 😊
We enjoyed a most relaxing stay at the Byre. The location was absolutely stunning and the room was very cosy and inviting. Emanuela and Karen were the perfect hosts - very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and great to know that it was mostly grown or made at the cottage. I have recommended the byre to all of my friends and we’ll definitely be back for another visit - and more of the homemade plum gin!
